Support Services

The Shepparton Group for the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) offers counselling, community education, electric breast pump hire and breastfeeding resources for loan.

The Australian Breastfeeding Association also offers a 24 hour Breastfeeding Support Helpline on 1800 686 268.

The Breastfeeding Support Service is for breastfeeding women. The service is a day stay unit that offers mothers support and advice relating to breastfeeding of their baby and settling techniques.

Staffed by qualified lactation consultants and in a friendly and caring environment, mothers spend the day in a comfortable home like setting receiving support and reassurance during their breastfeeding journey.

The Breastfeeding Support Service is located at GV Health (via the main hospital entrance), Graham Street Shepparton 3630.

Your local Maternal and Child Health nurse can also provide breastfeeding advice and support.

An after hours Maternal and Child Health advice and support line is also available and can be contacted on 13 22 29.

The Breastfeeding Café has been set up to provide a comfortable place for mothers to:

• Breastfeed their babies
• Ask questions about breastfeeding
• A Maternal and Child Nurse will be there every week to talk to mothers about any breastfeeding questions they may have or problems they may be experiencing.
• Enjoy the company of other mothers!
• Enjoy free tea, coffee and cake!

When: Thursdays from 10.00am to 12.00pm

The Parent Child Program is a FREE service to help parents with children from Newborn to 4 years old. The service offers assistance with:

• Feeding: Specialising in breastfeeding issues, bottle, food refusal, weaning, returning to work.
• Sleep: Settling issues, sleep disturbance, routines.
• Toddlers: Behaviour and their management.

The program offers Daystay for 0-12 months and/or in Home Support for 0-4 years.

A Drop In Parenting Centre is also available Tuesday 1.30pm to 3.00pm and Wednesday 1.00pm to 3.00pm at 15 Welsford Street Shepparton.
